Pitbull learned early in life that music can be an escape from a lifestyle that can take you in the wrong direction, and since that point his career has become limitless. He has sold millions of digital singles with his rap sound, including his current hit, “Hey Baby” featuring T-Pain. “Give Me Everything,” “I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho),” and his latest “Back In Time” single soundtrack for the movie Men In Black 3 have reached international acclaim and a fan base worldwide.
Pitbull, born Armando Christian Perez in 1981 in Miami is of Cuban descent. His father taught him to recite the words of Cuban poet and independence leader Jose Marti. After his parents split up, his mother struggled to make ends meet. For a while he spent time with a foster family in rural Roswell, Georgia. He began rapping in high school after his mother kicked him out for dealing drugs. Upon graduation he focused on his career, performing wherever he could.
It was Lil Jon that turned his career around, inviting him to appear on his 2002 album Kings of Crunk. Pitbull signed with TVT Records, which issued his three #1 independent albums, his gold debut M.I.A.M.I.: Money Is A Major Issue (2004), El Mariel (2006), and The Boatlift (2007). These albums solidified his reputation as rap’s most versatile leading man. He is known for his rapid-fire rhymes, billion-dollar beats, and globally infectious hooks.
From there he moved on, signing to Polo Grounds Music/J Records. It was at that time that he won the first-ever “Latin Digital Download Artist of the Year” award at the 2009 Billboard Latin Music Awards.
His latest album, Planet Pit features hot single, “Give Me Everything.” It features the talents of Ne-Yo, Afrojack and Nayer. The album is a star-studded affair including contributions by a host of pop music luminaries, including Marc Anthony, Jamie Foxx, Chris Brown, Kelly Roland, T-Pan and Sean Paul.
On the business side, he has introduced his specialty vodka Voli, partnered with Sheets, the dissolvable energy strip, inked major sponsorship deals with blue-chip brands Kodak, Dr. Pepper, and Bud Light. For more information, visit: www.pitbullmusic.com/us.
