Match.com: With all the stories about "Catfish" and people getting duped meeting on the Internet, we figured this would be a good time to go through some safety reminders when it comes to online dating.  Here are four good ones . . . listen up.

#1.)  Talk on the Phone Before Meeting.  You don't want to prolong things with endless emails or calls before meeting in person, since that's when you really get to know someone.  But it's worth talking on the phone at least a few times first.

The person could give off a completely different vibe on the phone compared to emails . . . and it's better to figure that out BEFORE you're sitting face-to-face.

#2.)  Don't Give Out Too Much Personal Info.  Err on the side of caution when it comes to revealing information about yourself early on.  Like, it's fine to tell them what you do for a living . . . but NOT the name of the company you work for.

#3.)  Meet in a Public Place.  Meeting in a public place is probably THE most important thing you can do when you're meeting someone you met online.

NEVER let them pick you up or drop you off at your place . . . and, if possible, tell a friend where you're going, and give them your date's name and phone number.

#4.)  Use Your Best Judgment.  When it comes down to it, meeting someone online is no more dangerous than meeting someone any other way.  No matter what the situation is, you should take some basic precautions.

But don't be so paranoid that you can't enjoy yourself.
