I saw stuff today….stuff I can’t unsee. I saw law breakers; people going wild, making their own rules. I sat in the parking lot that some call Southbound I-5 for almost an hour today. A semi and a car were involved in a wreck that left four people injured and the semi upside down on the ramp from Ravenna. I am not talking about on it’s side- full on upside down, wheels in the air…I saw it. Of course, by the time I arrived at the scene of this accident I had already been scarred by the insane law breakers in the parking lot; yes, I am still referring to SB 5. I was sitting in my car with my lovely heated seats minding my own business when I saw a Black GMC zooming down the shoulder in reverse….I don’t think I even need to tell you how illegal that is. We were stuck between Northgate and Lake City Way, so the idea of exiting was nothing but a dream. This renegade decided to make his own rules. He was no doubt blasting Anthrax’s “I Am The Law,” as he made his way down the lane he had just created. I am pretty sure he was trying to reverse all the way to Northgate to get into the Express lanes….aye carumba. It reminded me of a time back in college when my water polo coach didn’t want to sit in traffic so he too made his own lane and drove down the shoulder. Granted, he went forward, so perhaps it was less illegal, who knows. He was Yugoslavian. I have never been there, but maybe that’s a thing there. I saw people walking from car to car, and while I realize we weren’t moving, it’s never a good idea to get out of your car on a freeway. Write that down.
